October 1, without a doubt a day that will be marked with fire in my heart. 16 candidates willing to give their all, work and rehearse together for one of the most important moments in their lives.

Among more than 500 applications, 16 of us had the great luck of being able to represent all the women of the country and unite in the same fight: the inclusion in the fashion world of women with an appearance that doesn’t meet the conventional and established canon. It is hard to believe that at this point and in the 21st century we, women with plus size measures, have to deal with a big part of a backwards society. Weight and measures are not always linked to an unhealthy or sedentary life and that is why I join this type of projects where we show that a person with curves should not be pigeonholed and called unhealthy.

 

I love my work, it is part of my personality, my character and the passion I put in each of my projects makes me give my everything with all my love for all those people who feel identified. I am not here to scold or to tell anyone what to do or not to do, but to support, encourage and advise all those who wish.

The Miss Plus Size Contest brings confidence, affection and encouragement to all girls, teenagers and women to create a new canon. Let’s be who we want to be and let others bet on what we transmit. Let us not be regarded as a size or a measure since beauty is the essence of everything around us and we are light. Light to create, to shine, to dream, to fight.

We are passion, we are madness, we are one and united we will be invincible.

When wake up and have a bad day, think that we all have complexes. That absurd phrase that everyone says that complexes do not exist is a lie. We all have those moments of weakness when even with the prettiest dress in the shop, we see ourselves as ugly. It is not bad to be afraid, because fear makes us fight and work harder to be strong. The people who we seem to think are perfect also have weaknesses, and at some point in their lives they will experience a moment of tension and negativity. Well, work hard to be the one who controls the situation and don’t let the situation control you.

The day before the contest was madness; From 10 am to 7 pm in the afternoon we were rehearsing without stopping, with high heels that shattered our feet and made us wish for chairs like never before in our lives. Intense hours but full of enthusiasm that intensified the nerves because we wanted everything to be perfect. We all had the same enthusiasm and that gave us the strength to continue and end up as champions.

After a long day, rest was very important so each one of us left to rest and prepare their cosmetic rituals to be perfect on the big day.

When we woke up, it was Sunday and the streets of Barcelona were awake for a day full of tension and political struggle. Apart from being a date of a great political and social event, the 16 candidates were getting nearer to the Watercolor Music Theatre of Barcelona, to enjoy a huge day.

Personally, in the morning before I went to the theater, it was a bit disastrous because my nerves were out in the open and I was very upset, but finally managed to control it and focus on me and do it well, because there is no better force than focusing on yourself instead of looking at what others do.

Thanks to the school of make-up of David Molina (Make up School by David Molina) and Academy of Hairdressing and Esthetics JARA, we were all beautiful. The renowned Spanish clothing brand SPG Jenuan was the official sponsor, who dressed us in a casual dress chosen by the popular vote on social networks and with him we did the opening with a super fun and sexy choreography made by Machines dance school.

The jury consisted of five representatives from several different sectors, they gave us points in the swimsuit passes (exclusive swimsuit designed for the contest made by Kinira Swimwear of Kriolla Collection) and Gala costume (each with the brand and/or designer each girl wanted). Body expression, security, attitude and sensuality among other skills, were key points to belong to the Top 7.

After going through a lot of nerves and tensing the mouth to show our best smiles, it was time to go on stage and hear the verdict of the jury who would choose 7 finalists for the final round, the general culture question and oral expression, both would be the key to win the crown.

Finally and after so much tension, the time to know who the winners were, arrived.

Later I can only add the peace, gratitude and affection that I felt from many of my colleagues and organization, plus the support of the sponsors that I felt when I was elected as a representative of the women of this country. Miss Plus Size Spain, is without a doubt a great responsibility and a title that I promise to defend and fight till the death, for an open world and without fear of change, where fashion is the union of many visions and not just one established by a superficial man.

Last but not least, I would like to give all my thanks to the organization and staff of the contest, who have supported me, helped and always advised in the best way, helping me give best of me leaving the fears and negativity aside, so I could shine with my own essence.
