It is not surprising that we find dozens of different trends. In each preseason, each designer shows us their range or colors, fabrics and prints. All of this, of course, following a clear and defined pattern in the fashion world.

Is there something that Brigitte Bardot hasn’t worn before others?

In the 50s, she jumped out of the domestic fashion thanks to the French designer Jacques Esterel. In 1959 he created for the wedding of Brigitte Bardot, an original wedding dress in pink and white with a Vichy pattern and details in lace that was the rage among all women. The designer set aside all the stereotypes about bridal costumes of the era, and since then, this print has been associated with the iconic French actress and it has became a symbol of eternal femininity. Today, this print reinvents itself each season by designers and fashionistas on the street, adapting to any style.

For this reason, if there is a trend that stands out among the fetish of the French actress a part from her ribbons is, without a doubt, the Vichy square print or Gingham, as is called in the Anglo-Saxon countries. Discreet, elegant and sophisticated, this plaid-like pattern pulls out his more feminine and retro side to permeate throughout the textile sector in garments such as blouses, dresses and skirts inspired clearly by Bardot. Of course, if someone would have ever told us that geometry could be the paradigm of femininity, we would have never believed it.

If we talk working style, shaped like the most evocative tops or bucolic pieces, the Vichy is a print on cotton, squares of different colors that have a white background, but it doesn’t have to fit that definition rigorously. The tones that stand out most in the print are black, red, blue and pastel colors. It’s an ideal trend for lightweight dresses or to give a more romantic touch to shirts of spring or summer. This way, its naïf and relaxed image comes back with force each season to give a different touch to the everyday looks.

To wear the print in a correct way, the best thing is to opt for the version of the mini squares in black and white. The chromatic duo most used in fashion will always be good choice to achieve a pleasant and beautiful styling. In addition, if you add some gem or jewelry to highlight, you can use it also for formal moments.

Even so, fashion is constantly changing and we are the ones who decide what colors to use and how to wear them.

The pattern began as a large and striking square but today we have seen it with very different sizes, no matter the garment. It is clear that there is one for all tastes and colors.

In this week’s outfit I wanted to show you a dress with Vichy print in small squares, seeing as I have been saying since the beginning of my blog that smaller patterns play optically on our behalf helping to diminish our most voluptuous and problematic parts.

You can pair it with a jean jacket for a more casual look or a Cardigan or blazer to turn it into a total working girl look.
