Like those Jeans that can’t be missed in our wardrobe or the basic black for any occasion, we should not forget the miniskirts. And no, I don’t think that because we’re chubby, we can’t use them. On the contrary, if we want fashion to accept that any garment can be just as sexy with curves as without them, we are the ones who have to show it first.

Ruffle skirts in different colors have become one more choice in our wardrobe for this season. They bring movement and leave a cheerful, sexy and very feminine image. That said, you must be careful because they add volume, but with the right clothes the result will be really flattering.

How should we combine ruffled skirts?

The key to combining ruffled skirts is trying not to fall into excesses and not having a style that is too exaggerated. It is a very elegant garment with a very retro touch depending on the style you have chosen. However, it will always favor your most sensual and daring side.

We can find numerous designs, from flower prints to monochromatic and discrete models. Some are longer and have a hippie or retro inspiration; others instead, are narrow and conform to our figure like the one in last week’s post.

If you want to buy a ruffled skirt with prints, like flowers, dots or in an acid color, you better opt for few accessories and in more discreet and neutral colors to avoid an over elaborate  look. This way you will get a balanced outfit, flattering and with garments that won’t compete with each other, because the ruffled skirt will be the one that draws attention.

If what you like is a plain skirt, simple and in a single color, you can choose any complement of your style that gives you a more cheerful and fun touch, like a large and eye-catching pendant or a maxi bag in a bold color or a daring print.

If you are compulsive romantics, you will surely like lace skirts with ruffles that pair very well with garments in soft tones. In this same vive we can find skirts with irregular ruffles that are very suitable for a dinner or an elegant event. Some have ribbons as a detail or a belt, and they can be combined with a silk top or a simple T-shirt, seeing as the star element is the skirt.

The nautical style also leaves us with a very nice look. To achieve this you can combine a navy style T-shirt with a navy blue ruffled mini skirt. This same skirt in a solid color can be worn with T-shirts with prints and vice versa.

To achieve an even more feminine style you can place your ruffled skirt at waist height and with a T-shirt tucked inside the skirt, in a color that goes accordingly to the outfit as a whole. You will get an ideal outfit and it will be really flattering because it will accentuate your figure.

The Outfit I have chosen for this week is very simple and comfortable one and it’s perfect for any time of the day. The baby blue off-shoulder (Bardot neckline) blouse with Vichy checkered print is from H&M (New), it has clearly a country air but if we add the baby blue leather skirt with ruffles from ZARA TRF (old, available on sale) to that, we have as a result a very provincial and summery style and a receipt for a sure success. I have combined it with a red chocker to match the shoes from ZARA TRF (available on sale) to give a more striking touch to the garments and thus breaking with the baby style. Certainly you will not go unnoticed.
